Western Region,

Richard and I would like to update you on APCO’s most recent events which include the Executive Committee meeting on Dec 16^th in Orlando and taking action on the following items:

Branding Task Force: A presentation was made to the EC related to “Brand Identification” and it became apparent that even with style guides and other work over the years we are not being consistent in the execution of “Brand Identification”. In an effort to correct this we have established a Task Force to focus on “Branding” that is being lead by David Clemens. They will look at how to best focus and use our brand along with recommendations on how to move forward. Once we have identified all the participants we will let you know. This will be a small group that will meet once over a two to three day period in the next couple of months.

APCO Strategic Plan: 1^st VP Gregg Riddle will be Chairing the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee. Attached is the tentative agenda and a list of the members.

APCO P25 Steering Committee: Federal funding is drying up fast for the P25 Steering Committee. The Board is committed to its continued success and will be looking to bring some the activities back into the APCO budget to insure its continued success. Currently the budget item is a pass through for federal funds but this may change.

APCO International Chapter Executive Counsel Rep: Manfred Blaha will continue to serve in that capacity. Others did apply but either did not qualify or currently belong to another primary chapter.

As a reminder,

Western Regional is scheduled for January 19-22, 2009 in Denver, Colorado.  Hotel rooms are still available at the Hyatt Regency. 

Consortium Meetings will be held  Tuesday January 19^th at 1500 hrs and Thursday January 21^st at 1000 hrs. 

Winter Summit is scheduled for January 25-27, 2010 in Orlando, Florida.  Hotel rooms are still available at the Orlando Marriott Hotel.
